A gang of armed thieves on Saturday attacked a gas station in Asenema, a suburb of Adukrom in the eastern region.

According to sources, the thieves took away an amount of 1,200 and cell phones.

The gunmen, numbering about three, attacked a maid and a private security guard on duty.

They hit the security man with a baton rendering him helpless before performing their operation.

The gunmen also robbed passengers in a commercial vehicle buying fuel at the station.

Okere City Executive Chief Nana Addo Kenneth, who confirmed the incident, suspects a localized gang of thieves.

Sources say Adukrom police arrived late at the scene of the theft after fleeing to a nearby bush.

Meanwhile, the gas station has been temporarily closed while police open investigations.
