Their clash in the semi-finals with Algeria seemed predicted to extend until Riyad Mahrez broke the hearts of Nigerians with a free kick at the last minute.

For its part, Tunisia had three draws in Group E but nevertheless finished second in Group E behind Mali. They beat Ghana in the round of 16 and tactically dislodged Madagascar – the surprise package from AFCON by three unanswered goals.

The semifinal clashes took extra time and the shooting seemed fixed, but an additional strike allowed the Senegalese to avoid the shots that the Tunisians had used to eliminate Ghana in the round of 16.

"I think it will be a difficult meeting on a psychological level because we are not yet defeated by Senegal.

"I can not say that all our players are in shape after two more games, but we will do our best.

"It's football and we understand the disappointment of the whole team. But we have to forget that and focus on Nigerian football. "
