Those who suppressed the feast of the Republic of Ghana are traitors

Since 1960, July 1 has been celebrated as the Republic of Ghana Day, an important national holiday, until Nana Akufo-Addo became president in 2017.

Prior to July 1, 1960, the Queen of England still held the post of Head of State of Ghana even though Kwame Nkrumah was Prime Minister.

In the Ghana elections of 1960, the opposition, led by JB Danquah, campaigned to maintain the status quo, so that the Queen of England will become the general rule if Danquah wins. Kwame Nkrumah campaigned for the total expulsion of the British and Ghana-led Ghana.
