The political crisis in Venezuela has worsened. The leader of the opposition, Juan Guaidó, has declared himself acting president in the wake of major demonstrations that galvanized opponents of current socialist president Nicolás Maduro.
The United States and other Latin American countries supported Mr. Guaidó, but Mr. Maduro accused him of having triggered a coup d'etat.
Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis continues and thousands of other people have been forced to leave the country, many of them going to neighboring Colombia.
