GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – Thousands of people have traveled the streets of Grand Island for the annual race for grace. People ran or walked for two or six miles to help those they knew who had fought cancer.
Some came to show their support because they lost loved ones. Others have joined those who help to get through the treatments. Dianne McMahon and her family came to support her niece Joni, who has cancer.
"You know it has been hard, that it is really hard for her, but for the rest of us, I always feel that there are more people out there. around us, we do a little bit for her, "said McMahon.
The money raised will go to the Grace Cancer Foundation, where it helps cancer patients pay their health care bills, pay their rent or any other item they may need during their treatment for the cancer. Cancer.
"You know it's the reason to be Nebraska, this family that meets," said runner Tony Eynetich. "It's just a great way to go out and show support for all cancer patients."
This year was the highest participation of the race with more than 2,000 registered riders.
