A bloody crash on the Cape Coast – Accra highway has left three dead while a driver and others are treated in hospital for several injuries.
The accident happened at Gomoa Okyereko Junction when a Toyota Prado with registration number GN 3966-17 with three foreign nationals on board, deviated from its lane in the opposite direction and collided with a truck JAC number GN 751-20, in charge of confectionery.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Irene Serwaah Oppong, public relations manager of the Central Regional Police (PRO) told the GNA that the accident happened around 3 p.m. on Friday.
She said the driver of the truck, Aboagye Daniel, 35, was driving from Accra to Cape Coast while the driver who died with two white women on board believed to be Dutch nationals was heading towards Accra on their way to Cape Coast.
PRO police said the driver who died on reaching the Gomoa Okyereko junction in the central region swerved from his lane and collided head-on with the truck, resulting in the deaths of the three occupants of the Toyota Prado.
DSP Oppong revealed that the driver of the truck was also injured and was rushed to Truama and Specialist Hospital in Winneba along with a few injured passengers.
She said the bodies were taken to the hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation and the investigation was ongoing.
