Three reasons why Philippe Coutinho failed in Barcelona

Philippe Coutinho struggled to impose himself in Barcelona during his 16 months at Camp Nou.

Midfielder Coutinho moved from Liverpool to Barca last January for £ 105m.

But since the mega move, the Brazilian international has played 76 times for the Catalan giants, scoring 21 times and making 11 appearances.

A summer transfer could be considered for Coutinho, the exit of the Champions League in his former club being considered the last drop – with Chelsea interested, if she appealed their ban transfer.

And according to Mundo Deportivo, Coutinho did not settle in Barca for three reasons: "physical, football and soul".

They then explain how Coutinho lost more physical battles in the league compared to his stint in the Premier League, also citing a lack of scouting after being tackled.

With regard to football, the Spanish publication claims that it has not managed to badimilate to the style for which it was originally signed.

Coutinho was considered a substitute for Andreas Iniesta in central midfield when he arrived, after impressing the role at Anfield, but the report says he "did not succeed the test".

Coutinho also struggled under the weight of mbadive transfer fees, forcing Ernesto Valverde to be wary of him.

Liverpool President Tom Werner said Phillipe Coutinho "probably regrets" his decision to leave Liverpool.

"I would just like to recall the story of Philippe Coutinho," Werner told Liverpool Echo.

"I have only good things to say about Philippe. But I think he left Liverpool because he wanted to play for one of the two big Spanish clubs.

"We tried to convince him that the club was going in the right direction and that he could live great opportunities in the Champions League by staying in Liverpool. I think he probably regrets his decision. "
