Several cattle suspected of being killed in last attack Several cattle were killed in the last attack

Two separate attacks on cattle herders left three herdsmen and several dead cattle dead this week in Samso, near Drobonso, Sekyere Afram Plains district.

These deaths are the result of clashes between shepherds and farmers in the city of Ashanti region.

The police also launched a search for a fourth shepherd and hundreds of cattle reported missing as a result of the attack.

The clashes follow the man's killing of the security of a local plantation company earlier this month. It is feared that the attack of the herdsmen will be a riposte of farmers who suspect that the security man has been killed by nomadic pastoralists.

In the meantime, two shepherds who had been previously missing have been found, and we still do not know where a third shepherd is.

Police said it was too early to blame these attacks on revenge.

Effiduase division commander, ACP commander Philip Asante, who confirmed the deaths of three men, said two of the dead were recorded Thursday morning after unidentified gunmen attacked the herdsmen and their cattle in a encampment in the bushes of Samso, making two deaths on the spot.

"We have another information that another Fulani man [herdsman] was also killed so we went to the ground and saw that the Fulani had been killed – a shot in the chest.

"We did an autopsy and buried them because their bodies were breaking down. [Friday] Another piece of information told us that the Fulani man who had been killed was moving with his cow. So people started to pick up the cows in Agogo and sell them. So we sent men there to see the situation and they reported that it was not a cow, but two men who were shot dead. They were sent to the morgue of the Agogo hospital, "said Asante ACP.

The police appealed to the public for the search for the fourth missing shepherd.

ACP Asante says that it will require the support of residents to provide information in order to find it.

Samso, Mossi Panin, Mpatanjo and other areas of the district have all been victims of the destruction of farms by cattle owned by herders. The press team visited several acres of bean and corn farms destroyed by livestock.

But Samso's chairman of the unity committee, Abdul Rahmani Ibrahim, suspects badailants who carried guns not to belong to the Samso community.

According to him, the sporadic shooting of Thursday in the bushes follow those recorded a week earlier.

Meanwhile, the Fulani community in the region has called the attacks unfortunate. Osman Bin Ahmed is head of the Fulani community in the Ashanti region. He is unhappy about the loss of life despite several awareness raising efforts to ensure that local farmers coexist with the shepherds.

"We still have a lot of work to do, you remember last year, we did everything we could to calm things down by thinking we would have a year without an accident." Since last month, the information we we are not the best, it means that the dangers are becoming too great, "he admits.

Chief Ahmed wants land freed for the construction of satellite ranches to bring the situation under control.

"We want a situation where the land would be handed over to them, so we've set up satellite ranches, and it's high time people realize that when we talk about Planting for food and jobs, we should also look at Breeding for food and employment with a modern system to do this thing [cattle rearing] a very viable business, "he said.
