Tiemoue Bakayoko admitted that he wished to stay at AC Milan beyond the duration of his current loan agreement with the club.

Chelsea midfielder joined the Serie A squad this summer after failing to win at Stamford Bridge last season after transferring 40 million pounds from Monaco.

After a difficult start to life in San Siro, Bakayoko has become a key member of the Milan team as he pursues his quest for a Serie A championship spot.

The 24-year-old has made 19 appearances in the league for his new club this season and could make the move permanent if Milan exercised his option to buy this summer.

S addressing RMC Sport in France, Bakayoko made it clear that he wanted to continue in Italy despite three years of contract with the Blues.

"We are waiting for the end of the season," he said. "I am under contract with Chelsea, but I am very happy in Milan and I would like to continue with them.

"It was difficult at first, also because of the language. Today, things are much better, both in the field and in everyday life, and I am very happy.

"With regard to the future, the goal is to finish among the top four with Milan and to have a surprise: a reminder to the national team."
