A twenty-two-year-old tiler appeared in an Enchi Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a tricycle belonging to a teacher.
The accused Samuel Kyeremeh denied the theft charge.
The court chaired by Mr. Eric Baah Boateng granted Kyeremeh a bond in the amount of GH ¢ 15,000.00, with two bonds to be justified, a bond of GH ¢ 7,500 must be posted.
He will appear in court again on Friday, January 15, 2021.
At the prosecution, Detective Police Inspector Joseph Kwadwo Agyare told the court that the plaintiff, Helena Arthur and Kyeremeh, both resided in Enchi, in the municipality of Aowin.
He said that during the month of March 2020, the plaintiff purchased a Bajaj boxer tricycle with registration number M-20-AS-2963 worth GH ¢ 15,000 for commercial purposes.
Inspector Agyare said Kyeremeh approached the complainant and expressed interest in working with his tricycle for her, so a verbal agreement was made on the daily sales and management of the tricycle, after which he was given to the accused to start working.
The prosecution said that after Kyeremeh took possession of the tricycle, he in turn sublet it to another person much to the complainant’s dismay when she received information about the development.
He said all efforts by the complainant to retrieve the tricycle were unsuccessful as Kyeremeh started playing hide and seek with her.
Inspector Agyare said that on May 22, the accused called the complainant and informed her that the tricycle had disappeared and that he had officially reported the case to Enchi police station.
The prosecution said the complainant waited for weeks and, lacking information about the alleged theft, went to Enchi police station to investigate.
He said that when the complainant went to the said police station, she realized that no such complaint had been filed with the police.
He said she therefore filed a formal complaint against Kyeremeh where he was arrested to assist with the investigation.
