Lee's fame began when she posted a video of an extraction of black dots on Instagram. She saw an increase in interest in her content and soon discovered the world of "popaholics", including popping subreddit, which currently has more than 200,000 members. The doctor told GQ that she was "stunned" that such a subculture existed, but she also felt an opportunity.

"I could be their queen. I could be their person, "she told the magazine.

Soon, Lee's videos have attracted millions of times. Then TLC came to call. Now, the cases she sees are often going well beyond blackheads or a nasty button.

"We're really very successful – things I used to see in a blue moon now happen every week," she told Self. "We have a lot of people from around the world, which is amazing because there are [are] thousands of dermatologists are between me and their place of residence and they choose me. I am very humble and flattered. "

During the next season, she will tackle such an important case that she must badociate with another doctor to perform the procedure at a local hospital.

The most famous American dermatologist will also meet a patient with a black mbad that can represent a danger of death. Viewers will also see a patient presenting a mysterious case of returning the first episode for another visit with Dr. Lee.

"Dr. Pimple Popper is more than just zits

"I really think [my videos] helping people [decide] to go see things, "she said during the interview with Self. "People will pop their pimples no matter what. I try to educate people on the right way to go. She added that she wanted to show people "that there are many non-contagious skin conditions, that people should not be judged for these conditions."

Lee said she saw her videos and shows as a way to "make dermatology known to the mbades."

"I think most people can not see a dermatologist – they do not have access to one, they do not have the money, or [they have] reasons for insurance. So people have a skin problem and they do not know what it is, "she told Self. "Access to correct information is difficult and that's what I was trying to fix."

Dr. Pimple Popper premieres on July 11 at 9 / 8c on TLC. Dr. Lee will broadcast live first on @SandraLeeMD.
