The spokesman said they were traveling several kilometers a day in search of water, which was not affordable for all, and called for intervention.
Sarbah said the resettlement was promised, but more than five decades after the construction of the lake, life was still unbearable.
He added that the owners of the lands where they were resettled would have refused to allow them to farm on a large scale, claiming that they were not receiving any compensation.
Mr. Sarbah said that although the VRA continued to support them, they needed more to be self-reliant.
Mr. Emmanuel Nana Antwi-Barimah, Chairman of the VRARTF Board of Directors, badured the settlers of the continued support of the Trust Fund, particularly with regard to social amenities.
VRARTF was established in 1996 to, among other things, meet the development needs of the 52 resettlement counties in four regions of the country.
The six-unit block of buildings to be built in Tongor Ahor would replace a dilapidated, 37-year-old Tongor Ahoe basic school.
The project, which is the subject of a memorandum of understanding between VRARTF and Pencils of Pencil, is estimated at 460,000 GHC and is expected to be completed in six months.
Mr. Freeman Gobah, country director at Pencils of Promise, said that under the five-year agreement protocol, his team would rehabilitate and build five schools in the districts of Asuogyaman, South Dayi, Fanteakwa, Yilo Krobo and Upper Manya, in the regions of Volta and East.
He said the partnership would promote and improve education in resettlement areas.
The two sides also signed a protocol of agreement GHC314,000.00 for the rehabilitation of Nkwakubew schools in the East region.
