Tony Cascarino explained why he thought Declan Rice could become England's scapegoat, after suggesting that the West Ham midfielder was an easy target for critics.
Rice won her first Three Lions victory last Friday in the fights against the Czech Republic and then started for the first time as Gareth Southgate's team fought against Montenegro.
The 20-year-old's performance was widely praised, and Rice's ability to score accurate pbades and win the ball attracted attention.
However, critics have been addressed to the West Ham star because of his unattractive approach to the match.

More often than not, Rice was looking to pbad the balloon back rather than forward, even though there were overtaking lines open in the last third.
And Cascarino, the former striker of the Republic of Ireland, fears that Rice will be criticized in the long run because of his style of play.

Cascarino writes in Rice's Times: "He played very well the essential role of Jordan Henderson: simply interrupt the game and then pbad the ball to a flawless teammate.
"I only fear that he will become a scapegoat in the future as people ask," What is he really doing? "
The comparison with Jordan Henderson, the Liverpool midfielder, was mentioned a second time when Cascarino joined talkSPORT to explain his remarks.
Speaking at Alan Brazil's Sports Breakfast, Cascarino explained that only people who watched Henderson week after week really understood his value.

For all the others, Henderson is nothing more than a waste of space in the middle of the field, as it does not do much for scoring or goal-setting.
Cascarino explains that Rice faces the same kind of criticism.
"Rice is the ABC of football – the simple things – really good," Cascarino told talkSPORT. "That's really what Jordan Henderson has done all his career.
"A lot of people get hit by the backs of players who do not score a lot of goals or get a lot of help.
