Total Petroleum Ghana Limited organized a pitching program for 16 finalists of its second edition of the "Startupper of the Year" challenge.

Ten judges from academia, entrepreneurship, winner of the first edition, and Mr. Eric Fanchini, Managing Director of Total Petroleum Ghana Limited, interviewed the finalists after each presenting a 10-minute presentation on their products. .
The project was open to entrepreneurs aged 35 and under whose projects were innovative, had social and community impact, were feasible and had development potential.
Mr. Bright Dokosi, Total Petroleum Ghana's Human Resources Manager and Startupper Project Coordinator, said that a total of 1197 applications were received over a five-week period.
Mr Dokosi added that although each of the 55 countries was allocated 15 places, Ghana had 16 finalists after a tie.
He said that a sum of about 1.3 billion GH had been budgeted for the project since its inception until the final stage.
He announced that all finalists would receive a certificate and an advertisement, while the winner would receive GH? 90,000 cash prize, GH? 54,000 and GH? 36,000 for the second and third winners respectively in addition to mentoring and coaching.
In a remark, Mr. Fanchini said that the Startupper, launched in 2015, was created as part of the corporate social responsibility, which aimed to help young entrepreneurs bold and innovative in Africa.
This is done by helping the most daring and innovative entrepreneurs realize their projects by offering them financial support, considerable visibility and support.
Total Petroleum Ghana has been present in Ghana for over 60 years and has more than 4,700 Ghanaian shareholders.
