Tottenham is in the running to win the Premier League title this season – according to former England striker Peter Crouch.

Tottenham are currently five points behind Liverpool and Manchester City with Pep Guardiola's men in hand.

Crouch, who recently joined the Premier League with Burnley wrestlers, said it was a "madness" to chase the Spurs out of the race.

"It's crazy, considering there's so much football to play," Crouch told MailOnline.

"It's also a madness to exclude Tottenham, who is also right."

Tottenham has won 19 of its 25 league games this season, losing six times.

Crouch, who scored 40 goals in the Spurs, said his former club should be considered a possible champion.

"I know that bookmakers have them as the third favorite, but for the points they have accumulated, you simply can not get them out of the discussion.

"There is a trait of modern football that I do not particularly like – the need to make instant and definitive predictions.

"I say I do not like it, but I must also admit that it's something I'm guilty of."

Liverpool have played a game less than City, but in the last two draws, Guardiola's team was reinstated in the favorites to win the title.

However, Crouch believes that there will be many more twists before the end of the season in May.

He said: "The title race is the topic that pushes everyone to put their necks on the line and the last fifteen days have been particularly revealing for rash judgments.

"Manchester City lost to Newcastle and the title returns to Liverpool. Then Liverpool drew at home against Leicester, City beat Arsenal and West Ham took points in Liverpool.

"We are now in the position, after City's victory at Goodison Park, while everyone says it's again alongside Pep Guardiola.

"The Premier League is the best league in the world because everyone can beat anybody and we must not forget that."
