BUFFALO, W.Va. (WTAP) Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia announced Thursday a multi-million dollar investment in its Putnam County plant.
The $ 111 million project is expected to create 123 jobs at the Buffalo plant, the company said.
"Doubling our Hybrid Hybrid Box production in West Virginia reinforces our plant's role in producing next-generation engines and transmissions that will drive the future of Toyota's advanced mobility technology," said Leah Curry, President of Toyota in West Virginia.
West Virginia Governor Jim Justice said the investment is a major badet for Mountain State.
"The expansion of our Toyota plant has many benefits, and the best thing to do is to know that it will create more than 100 new jobs in our state for hardworking West Virginian workers," Justice said. "I'm a businessman and I've always said that if we could help our businesses grow, there was no limit to what we could do.
"Toyota has been a great partner for West Virginia. And their decision to make this incredible investment here at home is simply fantastic as it really proves that businesses are excited to be in our state and are able to succeed more than ever in West Virginia. . "
Senator Joe Manchin, West Virginia, accepted.
"Toyota's continued investment in its manufacturing facility in Buffalo, West Virginia, is testament to the hard-working employees of the plant and the success of its business in Mountain State," he said in a press release.
The investment is part of the company's $ 13 billion investment to expand the operations of its US plants in West Virginia, Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri and Tennessee by 2021, creating about 600 new jobs.
Toyota will be one of the 200 most active employers at a job fair scheduled from 11:00 to 15:00. March 22 at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
