According to reports, the actor Bradley Welsh of Trainspotting 2 was shot in Scotland.
Welsh was reportedly killed in Edinburgh on Wednesday. Police said they were called around 8 pm on Chester Street in the city's west end, and found a badly injured man who died on the scene.
Scottish police said: "His death is considered suspicious and investigations are continuing. Agents will continue to provide a highly visible presence in the region to engage with the public, rebadure their clients, and gather information that can contribute to the completion of this investigation.
"Anyone who thinks they have relevant information should contact the police immediately."
Welsh, 42, played alongside Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle in T2 Trainspotting, in which he plays the gangster character, Mr. Doyle.
He would have been friends with the author Irvine Welsh.
Welsh also appeared on Danny Dyer's Deadliest Men in 2008 and described himself as a "born leader" of the episode. He then got involved in charitable projects in Edinburgh, including helping young people stay out of a criminal life through his Holyrood Boxing Gym.
Welsh would have been a former British boxing champion ABA Lightweight.
Tributes were made on social media, a woman posting a picture of her and her friends alongside Welsh on a boxing ring: "You, for me, you are a treasure, you and my darling. Our coach, our motivator, but especially our friend, Brad Welsh. "
