Two years after leaving the Premier League, the Brazilian is back in one of the five major European leagues, having signed a three-year contract in Spain.
The Seville transfer window continued with the permanent signature of former Manchester City midfielder, Fernando, of Galatasaray.
Fernando spent two years in Istanbul after being scrapped by City. It would have cost 4.5 million euros in Seville to sign a three year contract.
The Brazilian had originally signed with Manchester City in 2014 after being revealed a pillar of Porto, since he had played 236 appearances over six campaigns with the Portuguese club, winning four league titles and a crown in Europa League during his stint with the team.
Publisher's choice
He joined City after the Premier League title of the team under Manuel Pellegrini, and would have played 33 appearances in his first season and 42 in his second.
But playing time has become harder to find during his third campaign in Manchester. Fernando appeared 22 times under Pep Guardiola in his first season as head of the club, prompting Galatasaray to move in the summer of 2017.
During his stay in Manchester, Fernando won only one trophy: the 2015-16 League Cup, City ahead of Liverpool in the tournament final.
According to reports, Galatasaray was reluctant to sell the Brazilian, but finally gave in after Sevilla's sports director Monchi met with midfielder Jorge Mendes. The Turkish giants would have had to Fernando part of his salary.
Fernando is the eighth new face to arrive in Sevilla after Munas Dabbur, Jules Kounde, Diego Carlos, Lucas Ocampos, Joan Jordan, Luuk de Jong and Sergio Reguilon. Munas Dabbur, Jules Kounde have also become permanent.

Sevilla finished sixth in the league last quarter after finishing seventh in the previous year, qualifying for the Europa League, a competition they have won five times.
