"The Brazilian is leaving the club for 11.8 million euros.

"In addition, 10% of any future profits from the sale of the player will be due to the Roma."

Gerson is a central midfield player, but he is exceptionally versatile and has been used in both advanced and retired central roles, as well as in both wings of his time with both Serie A formations.

Roma are well-stocked for midfield players. However, they recently added Amadou Diawara from Napoli and transferred Bryan Cristante's permanent loan to Atalanta, in addition to their existing options, including Steven Nzonzi, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Javier Pastore and Nicolo Zaniolo.

The Brazilian was just one of the many people back, with Maxime Gonalons, Christian D'Urso, Elio Capradossi, Daniele Verde and Grégoire Defrel, among others, all back in the Italian capital after temporary transfers elsewhere.

Roma has had an eventful window until now, also hitting Real Betis goaltender Pau Lopez and seeing Leonardo Spinazzola join Juventus in a swap deal with Luca Pellegrini, while Kostas Manolas joined Napoli and Stephan El Shaarawy joined the Chinese Super League club in Shanghai Shenhua.
