What does the Real Madrid injury crisis mean for their pursuit against Pogba?
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is worried about his team's long list of injuries as La Liga's new season approaches – which could have repercussions on their pursuit of the Manchester star United, Paul Pogba.
New left-back Ferland Mendy is the last Real player to be ruled out after a calf injury during the club's pre-season tour of the United States.
Mendy joins Brahim Diaz and Marco Asensio – whose torn cruciate ligament should keep him away for up to nine months – on the sidelines.
But Zidane did not want to know if the growing injury crisis meant that he would be asking for other changes to his staff available for the coming season.
Zidane continued to insist that Gareth Bale is leaving the club despite Welsh's goal of scoring against Arsenal in Maryland earlier this week.
As reported by Standard sport Earlier this month, Real had hoped to unload Bale and up to five other players to fund a transfer from Pogba, which has a Man Utd value of around £ 150m.
Isco, Mariano Diaz, James Rodriguez, Lucas Vazquez, Keylor Navas and Bale are all available in this window. Marcos Llorente (Atletico), Theo Hernandez (AC Milan) and Raul de Tomas (Benfica).
But with a growing injury crisis, losing other team options would be problematic, as Dani Ceballos left for Arsenal with a loan for one season.
"It worries me and especially, it bothers me," Zidane told Marca. "We are preparing the players who are here, then we will come back to Madrid.
"I do not think who will replace Marco, we are devastated by Marco's injury and our team is the one we have here."
Real continues his tour Saturday against American rival Atletico in New Jersey.
