Real Madrid align Kalidou Koulibaly to replace Raphael Varane if the French chooses to move to Manchester United.

The 25-year-old athlete would like to move away from the Bernabeu and reportedly told the club that he wanted to take on a new challenge this summer.

Madrid defeated United at Varane's signing in 2011 after Zinedine Zidane's intervention, but the Red Devils never lost hope of signing the former Lens defender.

Ed Woodward vetoed Jose Mourinho. Jerome Boateng and Diego Godin aimed last summer as he sought a long-term solution to the club's defense problems.

United is willing to spend about £ 100 million for him this summer and, although Madrid plans to renew his contract with the defender, he is also preparing emergency plans for his departure.

Koulibaly, 27, was a target for United under Mourinho but the Senegalese defender chose to sign a new contract with Napoli.

However, he would likely jump on the opportunity to relocate to Madrid and AS claims that Zidane has identified him as a replacement for Varane.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will receive significant funds to invest in his squad this summer, but the Norwegian has not yet settled his budget with Ed Woodward.

The continued qualification of the club in the Champions League will probably have a considerable impact on the level of expenditure that Solskjaer will be able to commit.

Solskjaer is ready to sell up to six United players and wants to include up to five with Declan Rice, Jadon Sancho and Varane on his wish list.
