Herrera says Man Utd is about to negotiate contracts
Former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera revealed that he had left the club due to his role proposed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Spaniard, who joined the French champions Paris Saint-Germain in free transfer after five years in Manchester, said the club was also late with his offer of new contract.
The 29-year-old played 16 games in the Premier League last season and says the role he played at Old Trafford was not big enough to convince him to sign a new contract, despite Solskjaer's efforts for keep.
"I do not like looking at the past, but there were differences regarding the project and my importance within it," Herrera told Marca.
"I was very happy, I have a lot to thank the club, the fans and also Solskjaer.
"He did a lot to stay but things did not happen. They [United] arrive late [with the contract offer] and at that moment, I had already decided to play in Paris. "
The goalkeeper David de Gea is also linked for a long time to the Parisian movement. However, Herrera insisted that PSG already had two more than competent shooting stops at Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp.
"David is my friend, I have a great relationship with him and, of course, he is one of the best in the world, for me in the top three," he said. "But here, there are already two excellent goalkeepers."
