Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti seemed to suggest that any speculation regarding a move to Manchester United could be ruled out during an appearance on French television.
The winner of the World Cup is linked to the pbadage at Old Trafford in uncertainty about his contract in Catalonia, where he moved after leaving Lyon in 2016.
Barca was strongly linked to an action of central defender Matthijs de Ligt of Ajax, a change that would only increase uncertainty about Umtiti's position as a guaranteed starter at the camp. Nou.
But, according to Sport, Umtiti seemed categorical about his position at the club in an interview with the French TV show Telefoot.
In a segment of the show in which Bixente Lizarazu, winner of the 1998 World Cup, asked questions to Umtiti and Chelsea striker, Olivier Giroud, to whom they had not spoken. Allowed to give answers to a word or to play a "joker" and to refuse to answer, Umtiti was asked if he would renew his contract and stay at Barca next season.
He immediately answered "yes".
The sport also notes that when he took part in the program last year and was confronted with the same question, Umtiti played his joker card and refused to answer.
On this occasion, he used his wild card when asked if the Barca had the chance to beat his former Lyon team in the Champions League earlier this month.
