New Delhi: It is common knowledge that sitting too long while commuting or working causes back pain and even spinal injuries.
Until four months ago, Ishita Goel, an engineer working in Noida, based in Delhi, worked eleven hours a day and flew at least seven times a month. These long sessions at the office, inside the train, and the plane caused her back pain and resulted in cervical spondylosis.
Medical experts believe that sitting for long hours has a negative impact on the health of the spine, especially among young office workers aged 25 to 40.
"Staying seated for long hours can not only catch us with sore limbs and give us a bigger way, but it can also damage our bones and lead to serious deterioration of muscle health. The cases of back pain have increased dramatically, "says Dr. Sumedh of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
"Nearly 80% of people who ask me this problem belong to the 25 to 40 age group. – Rather than hold a meeting in a conference room, invite your colleagues to take turns during a discussion.
– Set a timer on your computer for a standing break every 30 minutes.
– Visit a colleague in person instead of sending it by email.
– Park your car a little further from your office to sneak in extra steps.
– Take a walk after lunch.
