Trent Jurgen Klopp's latest injury contradicts previous update

After claiming that Trent Alexander-Arnold was "very close" to play against Crystal Palace, Jurgen Klopp has now questioned the next three games.

  • TRENT: Unlikely for Leicester, doubtful for West Ham & Bournemouth
  • GINI: Will train Friday, so "have to see how he reacts"
  • GOMEZ: "It's more serious", it will take at least two weeks more

Alexander-Arnold has suffered a knee injury since suffering during the 90 minutes of Liverpool's 1-0 win at Brighton.

The initial timeline of his return was a month, and the 20-year-old should miss four games: the clash with Palace, then the next meetings with Leicester, West Ham and Bournemouth.

Prior to winning Roy Hodgson's 4-3 win, the manager expressed his expectations by telling reporters that the two men, Alexander-Arnold and Gini Wijnaldum, were "very close" and that he did not want to close any doors ".

Speaking to LiverpoolFC.com after the Reds' trip to Dubai, Klopp hinted that the right-back would actually be ruled out for the next three games.

"It's better, much better, but you have to see. It must be stable – and for the moment, it is stable and it is about pain, "he explained.

"Everyone knows how desperate Trent is to play. he can ignore almost everything. The fact that he played this game in Brighton was sensational, to be honest. It's amazing.

The same thing for Gini, who was injured very early and was very painful. Adrenaline is obviously a very difficult topic and gives you the opportunity to progress a bit in the game, so they did it.

"It will not be long [for Trent]but is he ready for Leicester? I do not know, we'll find out.

"Then it's West Ham, then Bournemouth. After that, he will be 100% [back] but until then, we have to see. "

This is a little disappointing, but the director tends to minimize the severity of the injuries, which means that it is often inadvisable to take his word for gospel.

Adam Lallana is a habitual "victim". Midfield injuries are generally referred to as "minor", and then a long series of games is missing, magnifying concerns about his long-term fitness.

Klopp seems at least more positive about Wijnaldum, who missed the Palace victory with a knee injury but will train on Friday.

"Gini, it's good, it's better. The plan is to hold a session today and see how he will react to it. Hope we can build from there, "he said.

It remains to be seen whether the Dutch will be back on Wednesday night, but we hope he will be, as Alexander-Arnold and James Milner are suspended, but Fabinho could be held in the background.

That would leave a void in the middle of the field, with Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita the only other options available – although it's also possible to give Rafa Camacho his first start in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Klopp is less optimistic about Joe Gomez's chances of appearing in future games, declaring at the club's official website that he is still in just a few weeks of his return from a fractured leg .

"We have to wait, obviously the situation was really unlucky," he said.

"The injury is not like Trent or Gini where you know" it's the only thing ".

"It could have been so, but more and more, we discovered that it was a more serious thing.

"We have to wait, certainly, a few weeks. We will see, it is difficult to judge on the moment.

"We thought three weeks ago, it would be closer and we had to make another diagnosis in which we saw that it had not worked as far as we wanted.

"That's why he's still not training or in the field."

Gomez had been announced to make his comeback after the trip to Amex, but he now seems to have to miss at least the next three games – and probably more.
