The former competitor of Love Island, Mike Thalbaditis, died at the age of 26. The star of reality TV and semi-professional footballer died Friday, announced his direction.
Thalbaditis, a Cypriot born in Edmonton, London, played in clubs such as St Albans and Chelmsford. He became famous in the 2017 series of the ITV competition series, earning the nickname "Muggy Mike" after partnering with Olivia Attwood, island girlfriend Chris Hughes.
Thalbaditis also appeared on the Celebs Go Dating reality show in 2018. Hughes was among those who paid tribute, urging people not to use this nickname. He said, "His name was not Muggy Mike. Please, stop brandishing this. His name was Mike Thalbaditis, and every inch of my heart is for his family and friends. A good guy, taken far, far too early. "
Jonny Mitchell appeared on Love Island with Thalbaditis, and the couple remained friends.
In a message on Instagram, Mitchell said he was "torn" by the announcement of Thalbaditis' death, praising his "positivism and charisma". He said, "I really can not believe what I see here.
"My boy from the villa and one of my best entertainers coming out. An absolute hero, a legend and a person I have admired personally, always full of so much positivity and charisma.
"One of the best people I know who was taken too early, I'm heartbroken and I can not say with words how much I will miss you, brother!"
Ferne McCann also paid tribute. The 28-year-old reality TV star – who appeared in The Only Way Is Esbad from 2013 to 2016 – said, "So, so, so sad. Mike, you are absolutely nice.
I do not have words. My heart, my soul and my love go to his friends and his family. Too young. TEAR"
Calum Best, son of footballer George Best and former competitor of Celebrity Love Island, called the news "so sad".
He said, "Jesus is so sad, mip ripped. Far too young. Thoughts and prayers with his friends and family. "
Caroline Flack, host of Love Island, said: "Mike … you were a total gentleman … I will not forget it … it's so sad … we'll miss you."
Footballer Joel Byrom, who was playing with Thalbaditis at Stevenage, tweeted: "Shocked and upset to hear about this. Such a guy who goes to Stevenage. RIP Thala.
Thalbaditis is separate from the star of Esbad, Megan McKenna, at the end of last year.
