WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US President Donald Trump has asked General Motors Co to reopen the Ohio plant in a tweet on Saturday, ten days after making its latest Chevrolet Cruze.

The latest Cruze left the badembly line a week ago Wednesday in the GM plant in Lordstown, Ohio, the first of five factories in North America to have discontinued production this year and the American production of Cruze.

In a tweet, Trump said, "Because the economy is so good, General Motors has to open its plant in Lordstown, Ohio, perhaps in a different form or with a new owner, FAST "

Trump added, "Toyota is investing $ 13.5 billion in the US, and others too, GM needs to move quickly, time is running out!"

Toyota plans to invest nearly $ 13 billion over five years.

GM did not immediately respond to requests for comments late Saturday.
