President Trump will travel to Normandy, France, in June to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the invasion of the D-Day.
Trump announced the trip Thursday at a meeting with World War II veterans in the Oval Office.
"I'll be there," he told a veteran who said he hoped the president would be present at the festivities in Normandy.
More than 9,000 Allied soldiers died or were injured during the June 6, 1944 operation, which marked a turning point in the war.
According to the London Times, Trump should also make a state visit to Britain at about the same time.
"Downing Street officials have had secret talks with their White House counterparts on the visit schedule since the end of last year and are expected to make a joint announcement sometime in the next few days," he said. reported the newspaper Sunday.
The White House has not announced a potential visit and did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.
