(WASHINGTON) – President Donald Trump has announced that he will make an important announcement regarding the closure of the government and the southern border Saturday afternoon from the White House.
Trump and the congressional Democrats remain far apart on the other side at Trump 's insistence on funding a wall along the Mexican border as the price of the reopening of the government.
The two sides exchanged taunts and avoided talks so far this week. Trump says the announcement will take place at 3 pm. He added that the announcement concerned "the humanitarian crisis on the southern border".
