Court of Appeal Judge Judge George Kingsley Koomson, who will chair the three-member panel set up to investigate Tuesday’s unrest in Ejura, has done diligent work in their public hearings.

The committee is scheduled to begin its public session in the Assembly Hall in Prempeh from Tuesday July 6 at 10:00 am each day.

On the eve of the start of the public hearings, the commission traveled to Ejura to show its compassion to the families affected by the shooting last Tuesday.

Speaking to Ibrahim Abubakar of the community’s TV3, Judge Koomson said their work would depend “on the nature of the evidence we receive.”

“We will interview him and make the appropriate recommendations.”

He called on “the Ghanaian people to trust us and we want to assure them that we will stand up for the truth”.

The committee, which is also made up of security experts Dr Vladimir Antwi Danso and Juliet Amoah from Penplusbytes, has 10 days to complete its work.

He is expected to make recommendations to Home Secretary Ambrose Dery, who in turn is to report to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, by Friday, July 9.

The violence of Tuesday, June 29 left two dead and four injured.
