Tunisia recovers 13 bodies

TUNIS, July 8
(Xinhua / GNA) – The Tunisian Maritime Guard on Saturday found 13 soldiers' bodies
illegal African immigrants who drowned off the southeast coast three days
A Tunisian Red Crescent official told Xinhua a few days ago.

The bodies were
found off the coast of Jorf in the province of Medenine and the Katf coast of the city of
Ben Guerdane near the Libyan border, said Mongi Slim, head of Medenine
branch of the Tunisian Red Crescent.

The search is
still going on for the remaining victims, Slim added.

Preliminary
the evidence shows the bodies belonging to clandestine African immigrants who have sailed
a few days ago from the Libyan coast to Italy.

Thursday,
Mustapha Abdel Kabir, director of the Tunisian Observatory of Human Rights, said
Xinhua that more than 80 illegal immigrants of different African nationalities
missing after their boat sank in the Mediterranean while they were sailing towards
the Italian coast.
