M Night Shyamalan’s fantasy stars Bruce Willis as the miraculous survivor of a train wreck. According to the weird and fragile mystic Elijah (Samuel L Jackson), he is a true evil-fighting comic book superhero. It lacks The Sixth Sense’s immersive sense of fate, but it’s a very intriguing take on the superhero genre. Paul Howlett
