Tweneboah Kodua SHS authorities charged with negligence leading to death of graduating student

The family of a final year student at Tweneboah Kodua SHS who jumped to death accused school authorities of failing to act when the boy fell.

The family as well as the CID and school authorities attended the scene of the incident today.

The father became moved when he arrived at the scene.

Edward Duut, 19, reportedly climbed a wall to avoid a routine check-up by the Prep Master, but landed his chest on the ground, injuring himself in the process.

His father, Larry Duut, says he received a distress call asking him to come to campus to check on his injured son.

He asked the caller to give the phone to the son, Edward Duut.

“Daddy, I’m hurt, I’m hurt and I’m dizzy and I can’t speak,” the last words he will hear from his son.

Mr Duut says that when he arrived at school later, he was told his son had died after climbing a wall to avoid a routine check by the Prep Master.

But the father is not satisfied. He wonders why his child was left unattended for hours before being rushed to hospital.

“I called my son on his phone around 11:30 pm when a friend picked up and took the phone from him. When I asked him what had happened, he said he was injured and was dizzy.

I asked him about the teachers and he told me he couldn’t talk anymore. And that’s the last word my son could say. When I got there, my son died.

Edward later died at Kumawu Polyclinic in the Ashanti region.

The distressed father says the mother was also rushed to hospital after learning of the death of their first five-year-old.

The mother was looking forward to seeing her son come home after completing the last WASSCE handout.
“My wife couldn’t have spoken if she had been here.

All she said was that my son and his friends were taking exams, they would come home without my son after the exam, but his corpse.

The head of the family, Paul Duut, is not convinced of the police report.

“He wants the body to stay in the morgue until the investigation is complete. The body will be in the morgue until the investigation is complete. But the family is not satisfied with the result so far ”.

Kumawu District Police said an autopsy would be performed on Friday to determine the cause of death.
