Twelve young Catholics, including twin brothers Paul Mary and Peter Mary Onele, were Saturday in Owerri, ordained priests and deacons of the Claretian missionaries of the province of eastern Nigeria.
Bishop Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Sunyani, Ghana, of St. Anthony Mary Claret Parish, Owerri, presided at the ordination involving nine priests and three deacons.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) has gathered Reverend Father Paul Mary Onele and Reverend. Peter Mary Onele were the first twins to be ordained priests since the founding of Claretian missionaries by St. Anthony-Mary Claret in 1849.
Other priests were; Rev. Emmanuel Anyaebosim, Rev. Henry Ekwem, Rev. Valentine Orazulume, Rev. Kentigern Aririguzo, Rev. Churchill Emeghara, Rev. Anthony Enemuo and Father Gabriel Lanshima.
The three deacons were the Reverend. Michael Madunagu, Reverend Charles Okonkwo and Reverend Augustine Mary Obiadazie.
Bishop Gyamfi, who presided at the Mbad of Ordination, instructed the new ordained to give the example to the world.
Gyamfi told them to imitate Jesus Christ and join the inhabitants of towns and villages during their missionary work.
He said that the essential duty of a priest was to interact between God and man, adding that any priest who did not take the prayer did not deserve his call.

"Teach what you believe and practice what you preach. You must strive to pray three times. in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening.
"Be sure to pray, because prayer feeds the soul, just as food nourishes the body," he said.
Gyamfi, who described the event as "significant," said the ordination of Paul Mary and Peter Mary Onele was the first for him to testify to the priestly ordination of twins.
He called on the congregation to pray and materially support the clergy, stressing that the work of a priest was not easy.
He also thanked the other parents who donated their protection in the service of God.
NAN reports that Paul Mary Onele, a native of Nkaliki in Abakaliki, worked for Ebonyi's local government office in NAN, Abakaliki, before joining the seminary school in 2008.
Sunday Onele and Ms Chinwe Onele, uncle and mother respectively of twin priests, said that the training of two young men to the Catholic clergy was not easy.
"We are thankful to God that the two young men have now accomplished their priestly journey and we pray to God to continue to guide them," Sunday said.
Rev. Paul Mary said that he was thankful to God for seeing him and his twin brother Peter Mary through the difficult path that leads to the priesthood.
NAN reports that more than 100 priests, including Rev. Simeon Nwobi, provincial superior, Claretian missionaries from the province of eastern Nigeria and Reverend. Anthony Onyeocha, former seminary of St. Peter Claver rector of Okpala, among others, attended the event.
