The US Department of Justice announced on Tuesday accused two people linked to a system of depositing funds on crypto-encrypted stock exchanges.
In a statement, the US Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York claimed that Reginald Fowler (Arizona) and Ravid Yosef, who would live in Tel Aviv (Israel), were part of a ploy to use accounts. banking to transfer money into a series of unnamed cryptocurrency exchanges.
Court documents issued by the Ministry of Justice allege that the alleged money services business was in operation from February to October 2018. "Reginald Fowler and Ravid Yosef would have run a ghost bank that would have processed hundreds of millions of dollars of unregulated transactions on behalf of many cryptocurrency trades," US prosecutor Geoffrey Berman said in a statement. "Their organization would have circumvented the anti-money laundering safeguards imposed on accredited institutions that ensure that the US financial system is not used for criminal purposes, through lies and deceptions."
Fowler has been charged with bank fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud and unlicensed transfer of money (accompanied by a charge of conspiracy to exploit a unlicensed money transfer business), while Yosef, who has not yet been arrested ad, was similarly accused of bank fraud and conspiracy to do so.
