Two new South Park films will air on Paramount + before the end of 2021.

According to ComicBook.com, ViacomCBS Streaming Director of Programming Tanya Giles addressed the news during the Paramount + panel at the Television Critics Association. Giles has confirmed that the first two films of Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s 14-film contract will be released this year, with two more films each year until 2027.

It was announced in August that Parker and Stone had signed a huge new deal with ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment Studios that will see them develop 14 original South Park films for Paramount + as well as six additional seasons of their flagship series at Comedy Central, plus one new video game produced by an in-house team at South Park Studios.

The entire South Park Library is currently airing on HBO Max, with the exception of five of the show’s most controversial episodes. The 23rd season of South Park aired in 2019, but the show has since been on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the exception of two special hours – last October’s special and the South ParQ vaccination special in March.

The plots of the two new films have been kept a secret along with the actual release dates, but it’s possible they end up having a similar scope and scale to the two recent specials rather than 1999’s South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (which was produced with a budget of around $ 20 million), given that they are coming out before the end of the year.

In addition to their new deal, Parker and Stone also reportedly reached a tentative deal to buy Casa Bonita, aka the iconic restaurant that featured on their hit show, after the Colorado restaurant’s company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. in April, having been closed for more than a year due to the pandemic.
