A new study could be bad news for people who like diet soft drinks.
According to a study by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association, drinking at least two artificially sweetened drinks a day is linked to an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes, and deaths premature in women over 50 years old.
The risks are higher for women with no history of heart disease, as well as for obese or African-American women.
Previous research has shown links between dietary drinks and stroke, dementia, diabetes, and obesity.
Americans can be attentive to these studies.
The Beverage Marketing Corporation said bottled water surpbaded non-alcoholic soft drinks to become the leading beverage by volume in 2016.
