The death of two people was confirmed as a result of bloody clashes between caretakers from Ayomso and Akrodie in the northern Asunafo municipality of Ahafo region.
Kofi Gyamfi, 27, and David Asuming, 24, were shot and were reported dead on arrival at the Goaso Government Hospital and Komfo Anokye University Hospital in Kumasi.
About 13 others, including a 12-year-old boy, were hospitalized in various health facilities after being injured to varying degrees as a result of clashes.
The member of Ayomso Assembly, Emmanuel Ababio Yeboah, who confirmed him to Citi News think the clashes were related to an attack on a chainsaw operator a few weeks ago.
"It started when illegal chainsaw operators went to a forest reserve near Tipokrom, where a man named Zedane from Akrodie, called by Zodane, had his concession to operate. During their operation, Zedane came and grabbed their machine. When Zedane returned home, residents of Ayomso mounted a roadblock and attacked him with sabers, took the machine and wounded him. This happened about three weeks ago and the case was reported to the police, but it did not act by arresting the culprits, hence the revenge of the police. Yesterday, June 14, 1918. "
The Assembly declared that Zedane and his people were not happy that the culprits had not been arrested.
Police sources said injured people were still arriving at Akrodie, Ayomso health centers, Goaso government hospital, Duayaw-Nkonta, and other health facilities.
The police, the municipal security council of North Asunafo and the regional security council of Ahafo have not yet commented on the case.
