The Ghana Police Service has revealed that it shot dead two suspected armed robbers on Saturday, September 25, in a shootout.
In a statement seen by JoyNews, police said “the deceased suspects were arrested as they attempted to rob motorists along the main Koluedor-Sege-Accra road”.
During questioning, the suspects spoke to the police about their arms supplier Bukari Sallfu and helped recover the weapons and arrest other accomplices.
“The two deceased suspects led the crime-fighting police team to their accomplices’ alleged hiding place in a bush near Zenu. There, police came under fire as the suspects attempted to escape. It was a highly skilled crime-fighting team and the officers responded, ”the police wrote in their statement.
They said the suspected armed robbers who were shot in the shooting were rushed to the police hospital where they died.
Their bodies, the Ghana Police Service added, were deposited in the police morgue.
Meanwhile, police intelligence led to the arrest of Bukari Salifu, a suspected illegal arms dealer, 65, whom the deceased named as his financier and arms supplier.
