Two people were seriously injured and four others suffered minor injuries as a result of the rainstorm that hit Chamba in the municipality of Nanumba North in the North region.

The two were transferred to Tamale University Hospital for further treatment, while the four, according to Defense Minister-designate Dominic Nitiwul, have been treated and discharged.

“We were just lucky that the incident happened in the evening, but if it was daytime it would have been worse. We are happy that no one is dead, ”he said.

Mr. Nitiwul expressed concern over the disruption in the electricity supply which he said would affect the region’s water supply as all boreholes in the region have been mechanized.

“Once the community has mechanized its boreholes and the light is gone. If it takes up to a week, the disaster will be worse than what happened, ”he explained.

548 houses and schools saw their roofs ripped off by the rain storm in Chamba

He assured residents of his support in purchasing power surveys to allow the Northern Electricity Utility to begin work on restoring power to the area.
