WASHINGTON, Feb.10 (Reuters) – US consumer prices rose moderately in January and core inflation remained benign as the pandemic continues to weigh on the labor market and the service sector.
The Labor Department said on Wednesday that its consumer price index rose 0.3% last month after climbing 0.4% in December. During the 12 months of January, the CPI rose 1.4% after a similar gain in December. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the CPI to rise 0.3% and rise 1.5% year-on-year.
