DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) – The United Arab Emirates on Sunday released the first image taken by its Martian probe, which circles the Red Planet.

The photograph, taken on Wednesday, shows sunlight illuminating the planet’s surface. It shows the north pole of Mars, as well as its largest volcano, Mount Olympus.

The image was taken by the Amal, or “Hope” space probe.

The spacecraft entered Martian orbit on Tuesday, a triumph for the first Arab interplanetary mission.
