Uber and Lyft pilots reveal the biggest differences they have noticed between the two giants

Uber and Lyft basically do the same thing.

Of course, one is pink and the other is black; one is global while the other targets only the United States and Canada; and one is planning to steal taxis, the other does not. But when it comes to moving from point A to point B, there is not much difference.

This is a good thing for drivers, a great deal of which drives for both Uber and Lyft (and even for other small businesses in markets large enough to have competitors like Via).

Most of the time, the experience of competing applications is pretty much the same. But after hundreds if not thousands of journeys, drivers begin to notice small differences. In many cases, these vary from one market to another.

Business Insider talked to 10 drivers about their experiences. Here is what they consider the biggest difference between the two largest companies of this type:


"This is the first question my pbadengers ask me," said Ray, a Miami driver. "I say no matter where the pbadenger actually leaves a tip."


"Uber is much more organized and understands that by helping drivers, it improves the customer experience," said Roger, a driver in North Carolina.


"The only reason I give Lyber a slight advantage over Uber is because Uber has not updated the map in my area for a long time," said Darron, a driver in Virginia. "One-way streets have turned into two-way streets and Uber still has them."


"Uber has more riders in my area," said Max, a driver in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. "Lyft sometimes adds pbadengers to my queue without asking."


"Lyft gives you more information about the customer," said Michael, a Dallas-based driver. "I like being able to see how long a user has an account or how many trips have been made. It makes me more comfortable. "


"Lyft is more user-friendly for the drivers, but that's not what I experienced," said Aris, a New York-based driver, adding, "The distance traveled and the support time are doubling. generally, so I'm staying true to Uber. "


"The only major difference is that Uber gets a lot more calls in my area," said Horacio, an Orlando driver, echoing Aris' comments.


"Uber is much more organized and understands this by helping the drivers," said James, a driver from Orlando. "It improves the customer experience."

"Lyft, on the other hand, does not pay attention and hides behind the Internet and email," he continued. "If I treated my riders in the same way as Lyft, I would get a star."


"There are differences in salary surcharges, daily driving times and support teams," said Jenny, a driver in New Jersey. "Uber is increasing ubiquitously the business clbad pbadengers who make the same trips every week (they recognized it) and many more."


"Lyft runners in my area are like Walmart shoppers while Uber runners are like Macy's shoppers," said Tim, a New Jersey driver.
