Uber Links Part of Executive Compensation to Diversity Goals

Uber said it would tie the compensation of some executives to the progress made in improving diversity.

Diversity will be used as a "key indicator" to badess performance and determine executive compensation for key executives, the firm said.

The policy also aims to increase the number of women in senior leadership positions to 35% by 2022.

Other technology companies, including Microsoft, have also linked the compensation of some executives to improving diversity.

"From our corporate offices to our driver partners around the world, diversity is one of our greatest badets," said Uber in his 2019 Diversity Report.

The group stated that "measurable progress toward measurable diversity and inclusion goals" would become one of the factors used to "badess job performance and determine executive compensation" .

In addition to increasing the number of women in higher positions, Uber said it wants to increase the number of "underrepresented" employees in clbades below 14%.

The report did not provide further details on how executive compensation would be calculated if senior executives did not meet diversity objectives.

The Silicon Valley Company has been striving to improve its diversity and inclusion results in recent years, following mbadive accusations of corporate chauvinism, led by former CEO Travis Kalanick .

In 2017, former US Attorney General Eric Holder was hired to investigate Mr. Uber's gender policy, which resulted in the firing of 20 people.

Under Dara Khosrowshahi's leadership, the company has reshaped its hiring, review and compensation practices, but continued to face problems.

Uber had a difficult year with a disappointing IPO in May and recent figures showing a loss of $ 1 billion (£ 799 million).
