The University of Cape Coast (UCC) held Wednesday a service award ceremony to reward 87 retirees for their outstanding performance.

Retirees with six to 42 years of service received quotes and various awards, including refrigerators, generators, smart TVs, bedroom furniture and undisclosed amounts.

Mr. Moses Prah and Ms. Agnes Arhin Boabeng were warmly applauded for their long service and loyalty over the past 42 and 41 years, respectively.

She described their services as invaluable and emphasized their commitment to adequately strengthen the provision of resources to effectively reach all retirees through the "Retiree Awareness Program (ROP)".

Since the beginning of the ROP, she has announced that a total of 140 former executives, including three former registrars, two deputy vice chancellors, two vice-chancellors and five firmer members of the Council, have been visited and supported.

Pro Vost called on employees of the institutions to flee any negative attitude at work and to praise the virtues of punctuality, loyalty, honesty and commitment to duty.

On behalf of the retirees, Prof. Nyatuame expressed his deep gratitude to the management of the University for this honor and recognition.

He urged retirees not to see retirement as a punishment or a death sentence, but rather to be encouraged and viewed as the basis of a citizen's knowledge, experience and good example. aged in the country.

He told the University to give priority to their welfare and asked retirees to strive to affiliate with the University Pensions Association to make sure their grievances and their needs are taken into account.

He urged the University to leverage the valuable human resource facilities to make an enormous contribution to improving the academic success of the institution.
