University of Education final year student Winneba (UEW) died after a strange turn of events on Tuesday, September 7.
Abdul Majeed Sani suffered a serious spinal injury while celebrating the end of his undergraduate program on campus.
Sani was a well-known gymnast of the Ministry of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports who represented the school in competitions performing various complicated maneuvers.
But that Tuesday, the deceased and his colleagues walked out of the examination room in jubilation when he attempted to perform a backflip.
Sadly, Abdul failed in the stunt during the somersault and awkwardly landed on his neck.
A video seen by myjoyonline.com shows students expressing sudden shock, abruptly cutting off the party mood.
Another of his colleagues explained that Sani had, moments earlier, successfully performed a series of acrobatic movements before the one captured by the camera which he said may have slightly unsettled him.
There are reports that Mr. Sani was rushed to the specialist trauma and specialist hospital in Winneba for treatment.
He was then transferred to a health facility in Accra where he is said to have died on Thursday.
Many students have expressed their condolences for the loss of their colleague who was anxiously awaiting the official graduation ceremony after his years of stay on campus.

The School’s Student Representative Council (SRC) also sympathized with the family of the deceased.
A statement signed by her public relations manager, Aziz Asana Imoro, further warned that “final year students who are in the mood to celebrate the end of their classes / programs do so in moderation and should not let themselves be carried away by their joy “.
