Accra, July 22, GNA – Professor Ebenezer
Oduro Owusu, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana (UG), said that the
the university got a historical research grant to improve its research
profile.
He said that the Office of Research, Innovation
and Development (ORID) processed 81 research grant agreements in the
Academic year 2018/2019, totaling 35.8 million US dollars.
The Vice Chancellor said that many graduates
students currently prefer to study at the UG because of the strong tendency to
research work.
Professor Oduro Owusu made it known during
the congregation ceremony for graduates of the College of Basic and Applied
University Science at the end of the week.
A total of 929 graduates and post-graduates
students who had successfully completed their degree programs were at the
ceremony.
Professor Oduro Owusu said that students
Financial Aid Office had made it possible for the less talented but brilliant
students must have equal access to quality education at the University of Ghana.
"I am pleased to note that there has been
an increase in donations of 1,000,000.00 GH (one million Cedis of Ghana) in
Academic year 2016/2017 at 3,000,000.00 GH (three million Cedis of Ghana) in
Academic year 2017/2018. This represents an increase of 155% over the previous
period."
He added that a total of 614 out of 920
the candidates received scholarships during the 2018/2019 academic year.
The Lebanese community in Ghana and the
Lebanese businessmen have also awarded scholarships for a total amount of 26,000 to 13,000 Gh
brilliant students at law school.

VC stated that the university had taken steps to deepen its understanding
from Asia.

An agreement has been signed with the Korean Embbady in Ghana for the establishment of a
Corner at the university to improve relations between Ghana and Korea.
He said as part of efforts to preserve the
heritage and heritage of the university, the management had created a museum UG

Museum of the University of Ghana.
The UG museum should store,
