A Ugandan national identified as Suleiman Mayanja is currently being held by Kenyan detectives for the gruesome murder of a 25-year-old woman.
The man and the deceased never knew each other until they met at a popular joint, where they had a few drinks.
During their second meeting, the lady went to the rented apartment of a Ugandan national on Sunday, October 4, before being killed around 3 a.m. on Monday morning. Her half-naked body was discovered by the apartment attendant.
Mayanja, who arrived in the East African country last month through the Busia border post, is said to have fled the apartment. However, on the evening of Monday, October 5, he was arrested by detectives from the Nyali Cinemax where he was hiding.
It was understood that he sent a runner to retrieve his things from the room he had reserved on September 30, when detectives pounced on him. Unbeknownst to the runner who is a taxi driver, undercover cops had ambushed the apartment.
After a few minutes of questioning, he was taken to a standby police vehicle which sped towards the suspect’s hiding place.
The suspect is currently being questioned for further details regarding the incident, so that the appropriate charges can be laid before arraignment.
