The Ministry of Health is developing a roadmap for universal health coverage.
The focus will be on strengthening the delivery of primary health care in the country's health facilities.
The roadmap, currently under discussion, is part of the government's efforts to reach UHC.
The roadmap would include an increase in enrollments in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and retention of its members, making CHPS compounds fully functional throughout the country, increasing the capacity and availability of service providers. at all levels, with priority at the sub-district level, and producing and retaining human resources. resources for health.
Other activities in the roadmap include improving the quality of care, patient satisfaction and acceptability of services, increasing private sector engagement and improving the quality of care. civil society and the redesign of the health service delivery system, among others.
Deputy Minister of Health Alexander KK Abban, who spoke at World Health Day in Accra in 2019, said the roadmap would ensure that health care meets health needs and aspirations of the population throughout the country.

World Health Day
The celebration of World Health Day, which takes place every year on 7 April, was celebrated worldwide this year under the theme: "Universal Health Coverage, Essential Role of Primary Health Care".
