Sir Kim Darroch resigned as UK ambbadador to the United States in the midst of a dispute over email leaks criticizing President Trump's administration.

The ambbadador was described as "very stupid" by Donald Trump, following e-mails that his administration was described as "clumsy and inept".

The Foreign Office praised Sir Kim's "professionalism and clbad".

The ambbadador said that he wanted to put an end to speculation, adding that the leak had made it "impossible" to do his job.

In a letter to the Foreign Office, Sir Kim said: "Since the leak of official documents from this embbady, ​​there has been much speculation about my position and the length of my term as ambbadador."

Theresa May said it was "extremely regrettable" that Mr. Darroch felt the need to resign, saying officials should be able to give "full and frank advice."

The Prime Minister stated that he had received the full support of the Cabinet during this conflict.

Who is Sir Kim Darroch?
Born in South Stanley, Durham County, in 1954, Sir Kim studied at the University of Durham where he studied zoology.
During a 42-year diplomatic career, he specialized in national security issues and the politics of the European Union.
In 2007, Sir Kim was in Brussels as the United Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the EU.
He was the Prime Minister's national adviser on security between 2012 and 2015 and notably dealt with the rise of the group of Islamic States in Iraq and Syria, the annexation of Crimea by Russia, the nuclear threat Iranian and the fall of governmental authority in Libya.
He became ambbadador to the United States in January 2016, a year before Donald Trump's presidential inauguration.
